Jarvis Landry Trade Rumors: Dolphins Could Move WR After Jay Ajayi Deal

The Miami Dolphins are reportedly open to dealing wide receiver Jarvis Landry ahead of Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET trade deadline, according to Armando Salguero of the  Miami Herald . Salguero tweeted that Landry is available for the "right compensation" and that Miami is "not giving him away." The Philadelphia Eagles announced Tuesday that they acquired running back Jay Ajayi from the Dolphins in exchange for a 2018 fourth-round draft pick. The 24-year-old Landry is in the final year of   his contract   and can become an unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of the season. He leads the Dolphins with 50 catches for 398 yards, and he is second on the team with three touchdown receptions. The 2014 second-round pick out of LSU made the Pro Bowl in both 2015 and 2016, as he topped 1,100 receiving yards in each season. In 2016, Landry finished with 94 grabs for 1,136 yards and four touchdowns. The Dolphins are tied with the Jacksonville Jaguars for the final...

Week 9 Waiver Wire: Stat Projections for Top Fantasy Pickups and Sleepers

We're approaching the midway point of the NFL season, and like every year, there are a few surprises (rookies Deshaun Watson and Kareem Hunt dominating the NFL) and a couple disappointments (the supertalented Hunter Henry not receiving nearly as many targets as he should be). As far as surprises go, fantasy players can still find a few solid ones on the waiver wire. Here's a look at the most popular fantasy pickups at the four main offensive positions, per Yahoo, as of the completion of the Monday Night Football game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos. In addition, we'll take a look at some sleepers to target.             Quarterback Top Fantasy Pickup: San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (on teams in 3 percent of Yahoo leagues) Were you expecting anyone else after Adam Schefter of ESPN broke the news that New England Patriots backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was traded to San Francisco? It remains to be seen whether Garoppolo...

Jay Ajayi, LeGarrette Blount, Kenyan Drake's Fantasy Outlook After Trade

The Philadelphia Eagles reportedly acquired running back Jay Ajayi from the Miami Dolphins ahead of Tuesday's NFL trade deadline at 4 p.m. ET   in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick, which is a deal that's going to have wide-ranging fantasy football implications.  Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald passed along word of the blockbuster move. Along with Ajayi likely sliding into a starting role ahead of LeGarrette Blount in Philly, there will probably be an initial battle for carries in Miami. Kenyan Drake, Damien Williams and Senorise Perry could all be given a chance to emerge as a major fantasy asset.                          This article will be updated to provide more information on this story as it becomes available. Arsenal Transfer News: Peter Gulacsi Eyed by Gunners, Chelsea in Latest Rumours

Image
Arsenal and Chelsea are reportedly monitoring RB Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi .  According to ESPN FC's Peter O'Rourke , the two clubs scouted him during Leipzig's match against Bayern Munich on Saturday, with Arsenal eyeing him as a long-term replacement for Petr Cech and Chelsea preparing in case Thibaut Courtois leaves. Cech has contributed to plenty of clean sheets since he joined Arsenal, per WhoScored.com: However, the stopper is now 35 and no longer inspires the level of confidence he once did, so it's good business for the Gunners to begin preparing for his departure. So too for Chelsea, who will not want to be left scrambling for a replacement for Courtois if another top club snap him up. Gulacsi, 27, could be a strong choice. The Hungary international kept 38 clean sheets in 100 appearances for Red Bull Salzburg and has 15 in 63 for Leipzig, where he is impressing. He spent five years at Liverpool earlier in his career, and while he never made a ...

Week 9 Fantasy Football Rankings: Lineup Advice for Every Position

Image
With six teams on bye this week, plus a slew of injuries, life as a fantasy football owner can get pretty crazy, especially in the midst of the playoff hunt. Time is running out to turn that .500 record around and make a late surge into a higher playoff seed to, hopefully, clinch a first-round bye.  In fantasy, sometimes the best recipe for success is to just keep it simple. There's no need to check the weather forecast for your kicker's matchup this weekend, nor is it important to check to see if JuJu Smith-Schuster is in a good mood and ready to put up points because his bike was found. News flash: The bike was found, he played well, but now he's on a bye week.  Without further ado, here are Week 9's Top 10 players for each position. For full stats projections for each player, click here .               Week 9 Quarterbacks 1. Deshaun Watson, Houston Texans  (Projected: 22.83 points) 2. Drew Brees , New Orleans Saints  ...

Steve Kerr: Colin Kaepernick Is Being Blackballed by NFL, It's a 'No-Brainer'

When asked about Colin Kaepernick 's NFL status Monday, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said the league is blackballing the former San Francisco 49ers signal-caller.     Kerr talked about it on the  Pod Save America  podcast with Dan Pfeiffer (h/t ESPN.com ): "Oh, he is being blackballed. That's a no-brainer. All you have to do is read the transactions every day, when you see the quarterbacks who are being hired. He's way better than any of them. "But the NFL has a different fanbase than the NBA. The NBA is more urban, the NFL is more conservative, and I think a lot of NFL fans are truly angry at Kaepernick, and I think owners are worried what it's going to do to business."                             This article will be updated to provide more information on this story as it becomes available. Earl Thomas Reportedly a 'Long Shot' to Play vs. Redskins with Hamstring Injury

As the Seattle Seahawks look to extend their lead in the NFC West, an injury to star safety Earl Thomas  has them potentially scrambling for a replacement. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport , Thomas is considered a "long shot" to play in Week 9 against the Washington Redskins . He added that it is "possible but not likely" Thomas plays. Thomas exited the Seahawks' Week 8 win over the Houston Texans with a hamstring injury. Per ESPN.com's Brady Henderson , Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Monday there was some concern regarding Thomas' availability for the Washington game. Thomas has been one of the NFL's best safeties since being drafted 14th overall in 2010. He was named to five straight Pro Bowls from 2011 to 2015 and the All-Pro first team four straight years from 2012 to 2015. Never was Thomas' value to the Seahawks more apparent than when his 2016 season ended in Week 13 after he broke his tibia against the Carolina Pant...

World Series 2017 Schedule: Astros vs. Dodgers Game 6 TV Info and Predictions

Image
If the Houston Astros have their way Tuesday night, the 2017 World Series will come to a conclusion with ace pitcher Justin Verlander on the mound.  The Astros take a 3-2 series lead into their 8:20 p.m. game at Dodger Stadium, and if Verlander can continue to pitch the way he has to this point, the Astros should have an excellent chance of wrapping up their first World Series title. The Los Angeles Dodgers lost a painful 13-12 decision in 10 innings Sunday night, but don't expect the home team to give in at any point.  While Verlander has been a dominant pitcher since the Astros acquired him from the Detroit Tigers late in the season, Rich Hill has been good for the Dodgers. A repeat of Sunday's action-filled, five-hour-and-17-minute marathon seems quite unlikely, even though the bullpens for both teams have run out of gas after strong showings earlier in the playoffs. Verlander will probably have a chance to take the game for as long as he continues to be effective. He...

From Unicorn to 'A Beast': Beefed-Up Kristaps Porzingis Scoring 29 a Game

Image
NEW YORK — The playbook for going against Kristaps Porzingis used to be simple. Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens was the first to deploy it, when he decided last year to slot the 6'4" Marcus Smart onto the 7'3" Porzingis, but it goes back even further. Then-Golden State Warriors head coach Don Nelson employed it to bother Dirk Nowitzki and upset the Dallas Mavericks in the 2007 playoffs. He instructed the 6'8" Stephen Jackson to get into the body of the seven-foot Dirk Nowitzki . It worked for Nelson and Jackson, and it worked last season for the Knicks ' foes. "It was something I had never experienced before," Porzingis said of Smart's defense recently. "[Smart] was getting into my knees, playing hard defense and I wasn't really ready for it.  The blueprint for slowing Porzingis , drawn by Nelson and updated by Stevens,  was set. For all the tantalizing promise, nice numbers and  unicorn label, Porzingis spent his...

EPL 100: Ranking of Premier League's Best Players After Matchday 10

Image
The 2017-18 Premier League season is 10 weeks old. Ten! Can you believe it? It's at this stage that things generally start to "take shape," and this term that's proved to be the case. The top six are the "top six" we commonly refer to, a slew of middling clubs occupy midtable, and it's only really Everton and Crystal Palace who look out of place. We have updated our lists to take into account the latest weekend of action. They are divided into seven position groups and based solely on performances in the Premier League in 2017-18. To be eligible, a player must have taken part in at least half the games his team has played. Goalkeepers David De Gea and clean sheets just go together. He collected yet another one this weekend — his eighth of the season — and is still yet to concede a goal at home in the league. It's getting a bit silly. Jonas Lossl holds his ground, as although he conceded three at Anfield, he impressed with a penalty save. He w...

NFL Power Rankings Week 9: Updated 2017 Regular-Season Standings

Image
We've reached the midway point of the season for nearly half the teams in the NFL . Already, some clubs should start thinking about future draft plans. Nonetheless, Week 8 caused some movement in the power rankings and standings. The marquee matchup featured two high-powered offenses. A pair of dual-threat quarterbacks put on a show at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Washington. How did the outcome affect both clubs? Will we see these two teams play in January? How many wins does it take to embrace a surprise winning squad that most viewed as one of the worst teams in the league coming into the year? Should analysts finally embrace the Buffalo Bills as they continue to mold their roster? Did Sunday prove anything for this club? We'll go through the season standings after Week 8 action followed by power rankings for Week 9 with notable listings.               NFL Division Standings After Week 8 AFC East 1. New England Patriots (6-2) 2. Buffalo Bi...

Baker Mayfield: Oklahoma Should Be Ranked Ahead of Ohio State

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield said Monday he believes the Sooners should be ranked ahead of Ohio State in the polls. The Buckeyes were upset 31-16 at home by Oklahoma earlier in the season, and Mayfield expressed his opinion that it should play a significant role in the rankings, according to ESPN.com's Jake Trotter : "There's got to be a head-to-head matchup. You've got to have some sense to count that. You talk about head-to-head, they beat Penn State and both of them are still ranked higher than us. I don't understand it." Ohio State is ranked No. 3 in the Associated Press Top 25  at 7-1, while the 7-1 Sooners are ranked eighth. European Club Power Rankings After October 27-30 Matches

Image
Last week delivered a double slate of domestic football across Europe; Serie A snuck in a midweek round, while England, Germany and Spain engaged in cup competition before all four resumed league duties. It means there's plenty to consider when constructing the latest edition of the European Club Rankings...as there's double the chance to impress and move up but, similarly, double the chance to mess up. The rankings are a season-long measurement of clubs. Just like last term, they track teams throughout 2017/18, taking into account results from all competitions. Sides that have lost the fewest games naturally rank higher —though the strength of opposition met in a loss is considered — and both Champions League form and presence are used as tiebreakers for those with similar records. Those who gather big wins against strong opposition get a natural boost.  20. Monaco (Stay) Monaco's 2-0 win over Bordeaux keeps them in our top 20. With no Radamel Falcao available, they ...
