LeBron James, Isaiah Thomas, More Cavaliers React to Kevin Love's Hand Injury

Image
Cleveland Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love was diagnosed with a non-displaced fracture of the fifth metacarpal in his left hand after he left Tuesday's 125-114 loss to the Detroit Pistons in the first quarter. According to ESPN.com's Brian Windhorst , that injury is "likely" to sideline the All-Star between six and eight weeks. So how are the Cavaliers feeling? "It's a huge blow for our team, obviously," LeBron James told reporters, per Cleveland.com's Joe Vardon . "Anytime you lose an All-Star or you lose anybody, part of your crew, it's a tough blow. We're already limited in our bigs anyway. We'll be getting a lot smaller now. At the end of the day, we hope for a speedy recovery for Kev and he can get back on the floor as soon as he can. But it's a tough blow for us." Point guard Isaiah Thomas —who recently dispelled rumors of discord with Love —echoed James' sentiment. "I mean it hurt," he said. ...

How Kevin Love's Broken Hand Impacts Isaiah Thomas, Cleveland Cavaliers

Image
CLEVELAND — Having been to the each of the last three NBA Finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers have learned to value postseason health over regular-season success. With just under eight minutes remaining in the first quarter of their 125-114 loss to the Detroit Pistons  on Tuesday, both were thrown into jeopardy. Just minutes into the game, forward Kevin Love left with a hand injury that turned out to be a  non-displaced fracture . It's expected to sideline him for the next six to eight weeks, according to ESPN.com's Brian Windhorst .  It was set up to be a harmless, early-game high-low play with Love receiving a Tristan Thompson pass under the rim. Thompson's defender, Detroit's Anthony Tolliver, left the center at the top of the key, closed in on Love and swiped down, sending the ball out of bounds. Instead, it left Love's hand a palette of blacks and blues, putting the Cavaliers ' near future in question. "When it rains, it pours," Cleveland head coa...

WWE 205 Live Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from January 30

SmackDown Live general manager Daniel Bryan promised us two things last week when he announced a new GM for 205 Live and a solution to finding a new cruiserweight champion would be revealed on Tuesday's show. Up until now, Raw manager Kurt Angle has been referenced as the authority figure behind the cruiserweight division, but he only ever appeared with members of the 205 Live roster on Raw. Giving the brand its own manager may help give fans the impression that the creative team is actually putting effort into writing the show, but we will only know after the new GM has been around for a little while. As far as the title is concerned, the new GM announced a 16-man tournament to crown a new champion, with the final match set for WrestleMania 34. Let's take a look at everything that happened on this week's episode of 205 Live. Begin Slideshow from Bleacher Report - Front Page http://ift.tt/2FtMqyc

Report: Browns Attempted Alex Smith Trade Before Move to Redskins

The Cleveland Browns reportedly tried to trade for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith , according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, before the Chiefs reportedly agreed to deal Smith to Washington on Tuesday night. Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star first reported Smith will be dealt to Washington, with Ian Rapoport of NFL Network noting Kansas City will receive a 2018 third-round pick and a player to be named Wednesday. ESPN's Field Yates added that the player to be named is cornerback Kendall Fuller, and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported Washington will sign Smith to a four-year, $94 million extension. Smith's trade to Washington won't be official until the new league year begins March 14. As for Cleveland's interest in Smith, the quarterback didn't seem particularly open to joining the Browns. "I haven't even thought about that," Smith said earlier Tuesday when asked on The Dan Patrick Show about the possibility of be...

Trae Young Remains on Fire, Drops 44 Points, 9 Assists as Oklahoma Beats Baylor

Image
In what has become a common theme of the 2017-18 college basketball season, Trae Young put on a show in an Oklahoma win Tuesday night. The freshman scored 44 points with nine assists to lead the Sooners to a 98-96 home victory over Baylor. His pair of free throws gave his team the lead with 23 seconds remaining, which ended up being the decisive points in the win. Young finished 11-of-20 from the field, including 6-of-11 from three-point range, while also going 16-of-19 from the free-throw line. The Sooners defense left much to be desired, as Baylor kept pace throughout the night. Manu Lecomte led the way with 29 points, while Nuni Omot added 23 and helped the visitors take a four-point lead with under three minutes remaining. However, Young was just too tough to stop, once again making shots from everywhere on the court: He scored 31 of his points in the second half, continuing to put his name in the record books: Young, who leads the country in both points and assists, was c...

WWE Mixed Match Challenge: Zayn, Lynch vs. Strowman, Bliss Winner and Reaction

Image
Week 3 of the WWE Mixed Match Challenge featured one of the most anticipated matches of the entire tournament, as Raw women's champion Alexa Bliss teamed with The Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman , to battle SmackDown's Sami Zayn and Becky Lynch. Would the underdogs from the blue brand pull off the big upset, or would the unstoppable force and Little Miss Bliss roll to victory? Fans in Philadelphia found out in what was another unique entry into the tournament.        The Match Lynch and Bliss kicked things off. Longtime rivals dating back to Bliss' time on SmackDown, the Superstars carried the balk of the match, as Zayn portrayed the cowardly heel who clearly wanted nothing to do with tangling with Strowman. When Lynch did tag him in, Zayn ran and evaded his former rival before tagging his Straight Fire tag team partner back into the match. Late, Strowman finally got his hands on Zayn, gorilla pressing him overhead and tossing him into the stands. Back i...

Kirk Cousins, Redskins Reportedly Didn't Speak Between Season, Alex Smith Trade

Image
The Washington Redskins and Kirk Cousins now appear to be headed separate ways, which isn't surprising, considering their lack of communication. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter , the team's front office hasn't spoken to the quarterback since the season ended. Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star reported Tuesday that the Redskins acquired Alex Smith in a trade from the Kansas City Chiefs , likely signaling the end of the road for Cousins in Washington. Cousins has started every game for the Redskins over the past three years, leading the team to a 24-23-1 regular-season record in this span. However, the two sides were never able to agree to a long-term extension after using the franchise tag in each of the last two years. Team president Bruce Allen blamed Cousins for the lack of an agreement last July, saying he turned down $53 million in guaranteed money. Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports broke down how things ended up for Cousins: La Canfora also noted ...

LeBron James, Cavaliers Slide Continues with Loss to Pistons; Kevin Love Injured

Image
Detroit has been buzzing over the past 24 hours after the Pistons traded for Blake Griffin , but the superstar wasn't made available for the team's matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night at Little Caesars Arena. So Stanley Johnson stole the show instead. The third-year forward scored a career-high 26 points, pacing the Pistons in a 125-114 victory. Johnson was superb in every aspect of the game, adding 10 rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block. All five of the team's starters were excellent, in fact, as Andre Drummond (21 points, 22 rebounds, seven assists, three steals, three blocks), Reggie Bullock (22 points), Anthony Tolliver (20 points) and Ish Smith (19 points, seven assists) also thrived in a makeshift starting lineup that will surely look different once Griffin makes his debut and Reggie Jackson returns from his ankle injury. Speaking of injury, the Cavaliers received potentially awful news on Tuesday night, as Kevin Love left the ...

Twitter Explodes as James Harden Records 1st-Ever 60-Point Triple-Double

Image
James Harden has put together plenty of big games in the past few years, but he outdid himself with his historic effort Tuesday night against the Orlando Magic . The guard finished with 60 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds and four steals while helping the Houston Rockets earn a 114-107 win. He put himself in the record books in a few ways with the incredible showing: Harden was nearly unstoppable throughout the game, shooting 19-of-30 from the field and 17-of-18 from the free-throw line: Many were impressed by the showing: Chris Paul was proud of his teammate's performance: LeBron James and Dwyane Wade also praised their rival: Rockets general manager Daryl Morey made sure to let people know he was there to witness the feat: Harden's massive outing raised questions about how this changes the MVP race: This was just Harden's third triple-double this year after he totaled 22 last season, but it was one of the best in NBA history. After one night of rest...
